Wedding Linen Rental Guide

Shabby chic, classic romance, rustic country, vintage. Each wedding comes with its own vision to suit the personality, budget, and lifestyle of the happy couple. Linens are the foundation, the baseline for any wedding. Whether you choose formal or more casual, the linens create a feeling when you walk into the room. Bright colors, delicate lace, floor-length cloths, or frilly runners all work as the glue to hold your vision together.

The perfect linens should complement and coordinate with the rest of your wedding décor as well as provide function for the activities of the rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, ceremony, and reception.

The Essentials:

Essential linens for any wedding include guest table tablecloths and table runners in an alternating color or texture. Napkins are required for both cocktail party and reception, as well as extras to have on hand. Some couples prefer alternative, different, or vintage linens for the cake, gift, host, and photo tables. If you are using plain folding chairs, consider chair linens to add color and texture to the space.

Step 1: Choose Early

While a lot of the wedding planning focuses on colors, dresses and guest lists, the linens are perhaps one of the most important aspect of your wedding. Procrastinating linen choices may leave you with wrinkly tablecloths and dingy linens. Mismatched and haphazard linens take away from the time you spent on décor and clothing. The color, depth, texture, and overall look of your linens provides the basis for beauty.

Step 2. Know Your Numbers

While shopping for wedding linens, any rental company will ask you the basic numbers: how many, and what size? You will need to include guest tables, food tables, and display tables in your count. Also, remember to buy linens that are the right size. An 80-inch table does not use an 80-inch tablecloth; it needs one much bigger if you want the cloth to reach the floor. Have the dimensions of all of the tables on hand, so we can find linens that meet your needs.

Step 3: Stay Classic

Your wedding is perhaps the most photographed event of your life. Keep things classic and beautiful while incorporating your favorite elements. You want to avoid looking back at your wedding pictures in 30 years and being embarrassed by the bright green tablecloths and teal napkins. Stay neutral with the major linens, and incorporate color with flowers, décor, and accent linens.

Step 4. Mix and Match

Choosing linens can be overwhelming. Perhaps you like the color of this one and the texture of another. Alternatively, maybe you want something simple, but you also like a little pattern. That’s OK – use the experts to help you mix and match your favorite looks to find something cohesive. Mixing linen styles can add a lot to your overall wedding décor. Be sure they carry through with your designated color scheme, and select no more than two or three textures that work well together.
